Nursing attire (I love to shop)

with 6 comments

Based on past experience, I know that over the course of breastfeeding for the next couple years, the majority of it will happen right here – at home, and in front of 'puter, most like. :-D

That means most of my nursingwear will consist of a comfy nursing bra, breastpads so I'm not a complete leaking mess – and a sloppy t-shirt. For kicking around the house and sleeping, plus to wear as an underlayer in cooler months, I also got several of these nursing tanks from Target that come HIGHLY recommended by nursing moms in the know.

From left:
Bravado original nursing bra (I got the leopard print ;-)
LANA nursing pads (moms rave about these!)
Target nursing tank

All of the above is comfy and practical, but, alas, not particularly flattering. I might be a mama a million times over, but I still want to look NICE sometimes for hubby (and for the sake of my own self-esteem, which can be especially fragile in those vulnerable postpartum months) – especially when being seen in public. :-)

So to that end, I went on a quest yesterday for some pretty and fashionable (yet still highly functional and comfortable) nursing bras and nursing tops. I was less than impressed with the offerings at Motherwear (YMMV). Expressiva, on the other hand, stocked exactly what I had in mind. Plus they had a sale going on and I picked up several items for $8.99-$15.99!) I also got a couple bras (one black, one white) that are a little more structured. These are from Bravado's newer lifestyle line.

  1. Ahhh… the joys of shopping for pregnancy clothes huh? haha. I got some tanks and stuff at Walmart last night… I still kinda refuse to wear those HUGE things… I'm still kind small in that dept so I bought some regular LONG large tanks…. and they feel good. They snug around my body and will able to stretch so that's what I keep an eye out for when I shop for pregnancy clothes… PLUS the selection at Walmart isn't all that great, ya know? LOL I like Target. I also bought a white bra… I need a comfy one and I found the perfect one. My boobie are happy now… are yours? hahaha

  2. My favorite place is Due Maternity. I do buy my clothes at Target but they have such a limited selection of items at both of mine. I found a few other stores but nothing notable.

  4. I love all the research you do: the little gs and now the maternity clothes. I am compiling pregnancy 'helpful hints' as I am in the preconception stage. Thanks!

  6. This is really good timing, chitoes! I have a short list of some necessary items still left to purchase (mainly birth kit supplies, baby nail clippers and stuff of that ilk), BUT I also have two nursing gowns on my list. I like the look of the sleepy dress – thanks for the tip!
