Birthday cards from my babies
They're growing up – lately they like to compose their holiday greetings in Photoshop!

Vox Hunt: An Interesting Life
Book: Show us a great biography or memoir.
Scott got me this pair of books about Mary Kingsley for Valentine's Day (after hearing NPR's featurette about these books on his way into work one day that week).
She was a remarkable woman – self-educated as well as incredibly insightful and enlightened, particularly considering the times (Victorian). I just finished reading Hello to the Cannibals (a fictionalized account, blended with another story) and will soon start in on the travel memoir she wrote recounting her adventures (cannibals and crocodiles and leopards, oh my) – all while wearing corset and crinoline!
Looks like NPR also has an excerpt form Travels in West Africa.
New Year’s Day – photos
I like this Vox thing!

So, while I was flying to Ohio for my grandmother's funeral (more on that and some family photos to share later) on New Year's Day, the girls were spending the holiday with their dad and soon-to-be stepmom. She likes to doll them up (they are generally scruffier under my watch lol), so they looked cute. B was suffering from some cumulative sleep deprivation, apparently, and was too grumpy to be cooperative, but they did get an shot of her watching the action from inside.
Anyway, on with the show!
Merry Christmas to THEM
Three happy girls, obsessed with their new pink DSsssss and INSANE for Nintendogs. (Highly recommended – those pups are CUTE and the game is very engaging. Even the teenager clerk at Target was raving about the game!
Merry Christmas to me!
Lookie what I got for Christmas!
My old digital camera (top of the line in 2000) was wonderful, but too big for a pocket or a purse, so it turns out that I ALWAYS forget it and NEVER have it when I need/want it. So Scott stuffed my Christmas stocking with the “purse camera” I’ve been wanting for ages.
Some purse camera! Technology has changed so much, that this itty, bitty beauty far outshines my old camera in quality. Plus! It’s shockproof to 5 feet – critical for a klutz like me (Scott has watched me fumble my cell phone oh-so-many times. He’s a savvy boy.) And it’s waterproof, too.
Anyway, this gift inspired me to start this blog. I’m digging the easy organization tools and privacy features on Vox, so thought I’d give this a go.
I’ll upload some pictures soon!
