Vox Hunt: Song In The Key Of Life

without comments

Audio: Share a song that fits the moment you're living right now.
Inspired by cherè.

This song hasn't been released so I couldn't find a video of it with good production qualities. Here's my copy of the album version – I just adore this song, and this artist:

And here's a live performance of the song:

Life is Wonderful – Jason Mraz

It takes a crane to build a crane
It takes two floors to make a story
It takes an egg to make a hen
It takes a hen to make an egg
There is no end to what I'm saying

It takes a thought to make a word
And it takes some words to make an action
And it takes some work to make it work
It takes some good to make it hurt
It takes some bad for satisfaction

Ah la la la la la la life is wonderful
Ah la la la la la la life goes full circle
Ah la la la la life is wonderful
Ah la la la la

It takes a night to make it dawn
And it takes a day to make you yawn brother
And it takes some old to make you young
It takes some cold to know the sun
It takes the one to have the other

And it takes no time to fall in love
But it takes you years to know what love is
And it takes some fears to make you trust
It takes those tears to make it rust
It takes the dust to have it polished

Ah la la la la la la life is wonderful
Ah la la la la la la life goes full circle
Ah la la la la la la life is wonderful
Ah la la la la

It is so…

It takes some silence to make sound
And it takes a loss before you found it
And it takes a road to go nowhere
It takes a toll to make you care
It takes a hole to make a mountain

Ah la la la la la life is wonderful
Ah la la la la la life goes full circle
Ah la la la la la life is wonderful
Ah la la la la la life is meaningful
Ah la la la la la life is wonderful
Ah la la la la la

It is so…wonderful…
It is so meaningful…
(Fading repetitions)

Vox Hunt: Rocked My World

Audio: Show us cover art or share a track from the first band or solo artist you flipped for.

Eighth grade. I fell hard! I watched the soap. I saw the movie. AND his was my first ever concert.

Prior to that, I was also digging Air Supply, Barry Manilow, Pink Floyd's The Wall and the Grease soundtrack. I owned the Grease album. I think Air Supply was the first cassette tape I owned. But RICK was the first -and probably thelast lol – artist I went gaga for.

QotD: Call The Fashion Police

with 3 comments

You must have been a fashion victim at least once in your life. What hideous blunder did you commit?
Submitted by Tina

I can plead only that "everyone else was doing it!" I think the now-vintage Scooby Doo lunch box makes up for a LOT, though!

Not that I haven't made any other fashion blunders since (I was a teen of the 80s – I wore stirrup pants for heaven's sake!), I just haven't carefully preserved those images for posterity. ;-)

Just feeling silly. :-) Both of these songs/videos are great fun. Catchy tunes and awesome lyrics. I dig songs that glorify smart.

I love this song and video. I wanted him to win – he was so obviously the one who should have. ;-)

But nevertheless, he's about to get some serious radio play and I, for one, can't wait 'til my station is all oversaturated with his sound (sorry, my amazing husband – I can hear you groaning from here :-D )

Suddenly I See

with 2 comments

I really listened to this song [in the car, driving to yet another appointment, in HELLISH traffic and I got lost and frustrated, but finally found the place and by the skin of my teeth wasn't even late... but I digress] when it came on the radio today. This song is so much more meaningful to me than "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree." I liked that song well enough, but found myself always distracted by not really Getting It. But this song is a little less poetical, so the lyrics just eased on in, my brain easily comprehended – and I decided, yep, I DO like KT Tunstall.

This song, I hear, was written after Tunstall saw a particular photo of Patti Smith – apparently an inspirational figure to her. I think it's a lovely tribute. And the lyrics inspire me, tooto be more than I am. To be me, except with the good parts more obvious more often. :-)

"Suddenly I See"

Her face is a map of the world
Is a map of the world
You can see she's a beautiful girl
She's a beautiful girl
And everything around her is a silver pool of light
The people who surround her feel the benefit of it
It makes you calm
She holds you captivated in her palm

Suddenly I see (Suddenly I see)
This is what I wanna be
Suddenly I see (Suddenly I see)
Why the hell it means so much to me

I feel like walking the world
Like walking the world
You can hear she's a beautiful girl
She's a beautiful girl
She fills up every corner like she's born in black and white
Makes you feel warmer when you're trying to remember
What you heard
She likes to leave you hanging on her word

Suddenly I see (Suddenly I see)
This is what I wanna be
Suddenly I see (Suddenly I see)
Why the hell it means so much to me

And she's taller than most
And she's looking at me
I can see her eyes looking from a page in a magazine
Oh she makes me feel like I could be a tower
A big strong tower
She got the power to be
The power to give
The power to see

Suddenly I see (Suddenly I see)
This is what I wanna be
Suddenly I see (Suddenly I see)
Why the hell it means so much to me
